Job Description

This Director of Development will play a unique role in the continued growth and momentum of PIER. This individual will be responsible for:

  • Leading all donor-related activities. This includes planning and attending donor engagement events, maintaining records, working within DonorPerfect database, face-to-face meetings, and strategic thinking for quarterly and annual goals.
  • Securing funds from individuals and businesses to meet the organization’s major gifts fundraising goals and building the individual donor base.
  • Implementing the Platte Institute’s foundation solicitation program. This includes writing/submitting grant applications and/or grant reports.
  • Manage the organization’s direct mail program. This will include prospecting, housefile, and cultivation mailings.
  • Reviewing, editing, and/or writing acknowledgment letters, newsletters, annual reports, digital communications, and other donor collateral material and communication, as needed.
  • Performance metrics for this position includes the amount of dollars raised, number of new donors added, number of current donors retained, direct mail targets, and donor cultivation and stewardship.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of successful fundraising and/or sales experience
    Previous experience with non-profit, policy and/or political experience preferred 
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Strong belief and support of PIER mission
  • An ability to work independently and be self-motivated to succeed
  • An undeniable skill of effective communication and capability to listen to donors, understand what they value, and connect those values to the work
  • A genuine enjoyment of building meaningful relationships
  • A track record of strategic thinking that perceives roadblocks as opportunities and a never-ceasing drive to plan ahead for the next challenge
  • This person must care deeply about the state of Nebraska and value the potential positive impact that conservative policy can have on the state.

This person is also expected to also possess the below professional virtues:

  • Compensation is competitive and will be based on candidate’s level of experience
