Job Description

This key role will ultimately provide leadership as the CEO/Executive Director of Shocco Springs Baptist Conference Center (SBCC) subject to the supervision of the Board of Trustees. In consultation with other leaders, the CEO/Executive Director will cast the vision for SSBCC, lead in short and long range planning and oversee the supervision and control of the business affairs, property and ministry of the corporation. The Executive Director will not only continue the legacy of Shocco but will greatly impact the future growth of the organization. This individual will come into a well established and well respected camp. This person will be the face and cast the vision of Shocco but also be one who shepherds, leads, and manages the staff. This individual will continue the strong relationship with the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions. This leader will also lead and oversee the growth and ongoing expansion of the Shocco campus.

• Be the "face" of Shocco and foster a positive relationship with Alabama Baptist Churches, State Convention and it’s entities
• Plan, attend, report to and assist Board of Trustees during their board meetings
• Establish polices (approved by Board) and procedures to carry out the adopted mission goals and directives of the SSBCC Board of Trustees
• Represent the Board of Trustees at appropriate Alabama Baptist State Convention, State Board of Missions and its Executive Committee functions and provide reports to the Alabama Baptist State Convention as described in the current SSBCC By-Laws
• Consistently work with potential donors and benefactors to raise the capital funds needed to develop the campus for future guests’ needs and requirements
• Manage all staff and staff development which includes Spiritual Development, Leadership Development, Shepherding, Goal Setting, Hiring, Training and Operational Oversight 
• Provide leadership to the management team empowering them to fulfill the operational goals of the organization through their teams
• Provide training to develop further skills for managers, supervisors and staff. Develop emerging leaders for Shocco’s future
• Oversee and manage a balanced budget that allows SSBCC to carry out its mission in an effective and efficient way
• Work alongside outside vendor for annual audit of the SSBCC Income and Expenses 
• Ensure proper insurance coverage is in place for the organization’s property against loss or damage and liability coverage including the Board of Trustees

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience as Senior Leader with a background in Hospitality, Christian Camp, or Church environment preferred
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree with preferred concentration in Business Management, Administration, or Hospitality Management 
• Masters degree is preferred but not required
• Demonstrate growth and continual learning throughout career 
• Executive level experience working in a Christian Conference Center or Christian Camp is a plus 
• Desire and ability to work in a conference center/camp setting to utilize skills for ministry
• Ability to shepherd staff and lead others through scripture based development 
• Ability to organize, manage multiple tasks and details, and perform assigned duties in a pleasant and competent manner
• Must be a servant leader with a heart for staff and guests 
• Be actively involved in an Alabama or Southern Baptist church and continued involvement expected
• By word and action, express a personal acceptance and faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and actively involved with a body of believers
• In all aspects of personal, professional and spiritual life, exemplify Christ-like standardsAbility to abstain from use of tobacco products, alcoholic beverages and controlled substances
