Executive search for purpose-driven leaders

For companies built for significance and not just the bottom line, the leader you need has to carry the mission with conviction, not treat it as a checkbox. We search for fit at the deepest level, because it's where we come from.

The challenge

The hardest part of hiring for a mission-driven company

You can find a qualified CFO. What's hard is finding the leader who understands why the company exists and carries that mission in a way the team can feel. For faith-driven organizations, "cultural fit" is a values question at the deepest level, and it requires a search process designed to go there.

  • Leaders who share the founder's convictions about people, stewardship, and purpose
  • Successors who can carry the mission through a generational transition
  • Executives vetted for mission depth, not just capability and a final-round interview

What it means

What we mean by purpose-driven

We use the phrase intentionally. It describes companies where the founder or leadership team sees the business as a vehicle for something larger than profit, whether that's significance, mission, or impact. Profit matters deeply, a business that can't sustain itself can't sustain its mission, but profit is the fuel.

Purpose-driven companies show up in many forms: mission-led and values-driven in any market, faith-driven in culture, founder-shaped without a written mission statement, or second-generation companies at risk of drifting. What they share is a conviction that how you run a business matters as much as what it produces.

Why it matters

Why standard executive search falls short here

Most firms evaluate candidates on capability, experience, and cultural fit. For faith-driven organizations, "cultural fit" is doing work that framework wasn't designed to carry. When a founder says "someone who fits our culture," they often mean someone who shares their convictions about how to treat people and what the business is for.

The risk of a generalist firm isn't unqualified candidates, it's that they screen for capability and assume fit can be judged in a final-round interview. The leader who interviews well but doesn't share the mission makes decisions that are operationally sound and culturally corrosive. The team feels it before leadership sees it.

Communities

The communities we serve

Many of the purpose-driven companies we serve are explicitly faith-driven, and we have deep relationships across that community. When we recruit for a mission-led company, we aren't learning the language for the first time, we speak it because we live it.

  • FCCI (Fellowship of Companies for Christ International), founders and CEOs running their businesses as a ministry.
  • C12, Christian CEO peer advisory groups sharpening each other toward Kingdom purpose.
  • Convene, Christian CEO peer groups integrating faith, family, and business leadership.
  • National Christian Foundation (NCF), the generosity network connecting founders thinking about legacy and succession.
  • Praxis & Faith Driven Entrepreneur, founders building at the intersection of redemptive innovation and Kingdom impact.

Succession

The succession question

Many of the companies we serve are facing a generational transition. For purpose-driven founders, the fear is about mission continuity: will the next leader honor what was built? Will the company still carry its mission in five years?

Succession in a purpose-driven company is a stewardship question, and the answer starts with the hire. The right successor won't lead exactly the way you led, they can't, but they can carry the mission with their own conviction, in their own way, with the same faithfulness. That's multiplication.

How it works

A search built to stick

Most placements fail in the first 90 days. Our process is designed to prevent that, and for mission-driven hires, it goes deeper.

STEP 01

The Bullseye Meeting

Every stakeholder in the room, role, comp, success criteria, cultural profile, and decision authority defined before we go to market.

STEP 02

Mapped search

We approach proven leaders directly, including the ones who aren't looking, not a job-board cast.

STEP 03

Mutual-fit assessment

Capability, character, and cultural fit vetted in person, on both sides of the table.

STEP 04

Onboard & follow through

We stay involved through the first 90 days to make the placement land.

It truly matters who you hire, and with FireSeeds on your side, you can trust that your investment was made with wisdom for the future. I 100% recommend working with FireSeeds for your future hiring needs.
