Goebel Construction is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer to support field operations and project
controls on heavy civil and highway construction projects. This role is ideal for a recent civil engineering
or construction management graduate looking to build a career in heavy construction. You'll work
directly under experienced Project Managers and Superintendents, gaining hands-on exposure to
various clients' specifications, means and methods, and full project lifecycle management — from
preconstruction through closeout.
Responsibilities
A project engineer's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist in reviewing project plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, and material approvals
- Support quantity take-offs, cost tracking, and production reporting
- Maintain daily field reports, inspection logs, and as-built documentation
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors on scheduling and material deliveries
- Assist Superintendents with short-interval production schedules and crew planning
- Track quality control and materials testing documentation for compliance with client standards
- Support change order documentation, pricing, and tracking
- Participate in project meetings, safety huddles, and site walks
- Assist with project closeout documentation, punch lists, and as-builts
- Learn and apply project management software (Bluebeam, HCSS Heavybid, Vista, TBC)
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent
combination of education and experience)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); ability to learn new software platforms

- Willingness to work on active construction sites and travel to project locations as needed
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and contract documents
